definitely an eye-opener, eh? i agree with you about how lack of treatment is now more important to you!! if i ever purchase a sapphire or ruby, i would like to have a laboratory gem report as well as a county of origin report.

No, of course I don't mind you posting this like elsewhere, as it's very educational and it's a shame more people doesen't know about these things before buying. It's probably a very similar case with most other gemstones, i.e. not only limited to corundum varieties.
P. S. Just imagine an ad that goes something like: "...this exquisite, sandpaper grade sapphire is accented by ten shimmering frozen spit diamonds..."
