Somebody forwarded me a video and picture of of a ruby which he claims to be from Madagascar. That's the first time I've heard about rubies from Madagascar. So I need opinion of respected members on this forum regarding the authenticity of this claim.

The picture is attached, while the link is as folows-

Most diffently rubies in Madagascar. But whether that individual stone is definitely from Madagascar?? Test, Test, get it tested.

To begin with, how can the stone even be determined as a ruby, looking at a photo?
Rhetorical question. It can't.

Ruby in Madagascar has been reported for quite some time:

Thanks Barbara. Yep, I agree with what you say. But I put it up b/c sometimes experience can come in handy. It definitely needs a test to determine its authenticity, but in the meantime, somebody might be able to point something out about it.

With that photo only that it is red, poorly cut, and heavily included. The YouTube video has nothing more to offer than a picture, other than the pavilion view and the extent of fractures and inclusions.

The vast majority of Ruby I see being sold in Madagascar is glass filled junk brought from other places to sell to tourists.

The pictures says nothing. Get it tested by a major lab before buying.
