Our cutters in Arusha Tanzania have been using MDR faceting machines for years. The shop is expanding and we would like to buy more machines for them. I have managed to get a couple but it is slow going. I would like to buy three more used machines. Junk is not worth the hassle, so decent machines please. If anyone has one to sell or knows where one is I would be very appreciative.

Happy to pay cash right away. But if it helps shake a machine or three loose there may be an opportunity to trade value for good rough at Arush prices?

I have an MDR 102 (left hand) that is in good condition - the belt should be replaced since I haven't used it in around 4 years. I added a US digital DRO that is good to .02 degrees. You can have it for the cost of shipping - which might be a little high since I am located near Seattle WA, USA. I still cut so if you want to throw in some rough I would't complain :D

GemologyOnLine is an amazing community in so many ways.

Sulfide will be well rewarded with a nice parcel of rough straight from the bush in Tanzania.

Plus we will have provided an African with a great job that pays a wage he can raise a family on. Win Win in so many ways.

I have been working with the My Chosen Vessels organization for the last couple of years to get this museum, and cultural center built to benefit the Maasai in the Tanzanian/Kenyan gem producing area. I was supposed to go and teach them about rough stones so they can get fair value for them. Eventually we would like to set up a gemology lab, a cutting school, and sponsor a couple of people to GIA to bring that knowledge home.

It did get opened, then soon after Covid-19 hit and shut down the whole tourist industry, and canceled all of our plans for this year and who knows how long going forward. Not giving up, one day we will get all of our goals done.

I owe Africa so much....

I've been trying to find out if the lady that purchased my Pro-C MDR a few years back still had it. She is a Vet and was just starting out in faceting maybe she was ready to upgrade. Can't find the info but still looking.

Thanks for the effort. Your other lead looks like it may pan out.

It looks like I spend too much time lurking and not enough time posting.

Hi Barbra,

It looks like GO does not allow me to read or send PMs nor post my email. If I need to communicate with 1bwana1 to arrange shipping, how should I do that? I totally understand why GO does this and just want to follow the rules.

Steve

Hi sulfide.
After 10 approved posts one gets full forum privileges, which include PMs.

Since you have been "lurking" for a long time, I'll give you extra credit.
