Pigeon's Blood is an archaic term used to describe rubies of high quality. Some still use it. I do not. The red corundum pictured below is not high quality. I'd call them specimens.

I'd call them specimens too as I think there to small and also they are weathered from elements, If there polished it could improve them from weathered skin on them as there was sieved from sands there still have sand on some of them.
Also why are 98% of ruby's heat treated in some way when there cut in to gems.

I saw a tv show once (game of stones) ,there was someone there that used this term "sunset" to describe a specific type of rubies from cambodia that had a skin made them look like a specimens from the outside, but remarkably turned out into fine red rubies with high clarity, after they was heated to almost melting point degree. i am not sure if this is even based on a true information , and anyway i doubt this is the case here.

Been looking up and think your right, Think there only sunset if there from Cambodia, Not Madagascar.
Stephen Challener, Maybe a bit small for cabochons, but i'll keep them as specimen's for now, Thanks for your replies helps a lot to put my mind at rest since many gems have different names, grades and colour.
