Hey, all! I'm a lost faceting son returning to the hobby after a decade away, and I'll be at the Tucson show next month, but I'm really rusty on buying rough at what/where to buy these days. The last time I was buying rough, I actually lived in Tucson and would get stone from Jeff Graham (before he passed). Now, I feel totally lost, but I do remember there are great deals to be had at the show if you know where to look.
Can anyone comment on good sources and prices for rough these days and where I might find good deals at the show.
I'm looking specifically at:
Rose de France Quartz Prasiolite Maraba Citrine Lemon Citrine Amethyst Rhodolite Garnets Peridot
But I'm open to others.
Basically, I'm going to be cutting lots of practice stones on a new Graves 5XL, and I would like some affordable but decent materials to work and compete on with the USFG.
I could even meet up with folks in Tucson to go around together, but I won't be in until the 10th.
Thanks! Wish I had more time to write a proper introduction right now, but I'll save that for later.
