hi all,

I'm Aloysius from Singapore and already have the FGA, CDG. Was teaching the FGA programme in Singapore but will be in California for a year starting 7 September 2016, and therefore I am thinking of going to GIA Carlsbad to read the GG programme as a revision.

Will be bringing lots of stones over from Asia as well!

Regards,
Aloysius

Welcome.

I hope you consider posting some of the stones on the market place.

Since you are going to be here for a while why not join one of the local rock clubs and do some rock hounding. Singapore is a small country so there are probably not many rock hounding possibilities there. North County has a number of fee tourmaline digs, but there are tons of beautiful jaspers and agates in the deserts and many other minerals as well.

Yeah, the tourmaline mines are awesome--we've gotten some amazing stones for much less than they would have cost to buy from pegmatite bags at the Himalaya mine--definitely not salted or sorted through based on what we've gotten out of them.

Agreed, my last visit to the Himalaya was disappointing. Our whole group got nothing. Where have you had good luck?
