Umm.... I still have my gall stone somewhere. It was over an inch in diameter..... But it was a lot uglier than that pearl.

Oh yeah - really ugly. Probably hurt me a lot more than that pearl hurt the clam, too.

I was going to point out the same thing. Pearl formation is excruciating for a mollusc, but most humans don't care.

Actually they did (last for years). It took a while to diagnose them. Periodic intense pain. The last time was 17 hours straight, and I thought I was going to die. (Think how long it takes to grow one an inch an a half in diameter (and "innumerable small ones" as it said on the report).
