My brother in law has asked me to make a single earring out of amber for him. I can cut and polish it, but I would like to fins a reliable supplier. I know that there is a LOT of fakes out there, and am looking for a supplier that I can trust.
I am only looking for a small piece, laybe something that will finish in the 8-10mm range.
If it had an interesting something in it, that would be an added plus, but I know it would dive up the cost.
He is looking for a traditional amber.
Thanks, I did search for the topic but did not find a post.

while there are a lot of fakes out there, the real stuff isn't very expensive. If there is a nearby natural history museum, they might have some you can buy. (There is one in Raleigh that always seems to have some.) I haven't found it very hard to find some with (very tiny) insects in it that I am pretty certain is real.
