Being the sort of person who, when I take something apart often end up with a few homeless screws after putting it back together, I haven't tried doing this.

But, it occured to me the other day that the little cheap UV light boxes:
Led Gel curing light
that are used to cure gel manicures might have the potential to be turned into an inexpensive LWUV/ SWUV light box. The LEDs that come with these units are 375 nm.

Anyone tried this yet?

By the way, to all of the tinkering married gents here... unless you want to end up divorced, I would highly suggest NOT taking your wifes unit to experiment on.

Why yes, yes I have.
And they work quite well to illustrate fluorescence.

Hehehe. A woman after my own heart!

I wonder how hard it would be to swap out the 375nm leds with a SWUV variety?

REAL SW leds are quite expensive. Despite you can find'em from some chinese sellers, reliable stuffs can go for more than 200 $ EACH..........

I got a few of these mini LWSW UV lights from Mineralab as stocking stuffers a couple years ago for the Holidays:

They work well and fit in a handbag....at least MY handbag.

I have one of those "pocket" models (I don't know whose pocket they fit in  ). I used to squeeze myself into my closet, close the door, and use it to check for fluorescence. I never thought to take it with me in my purse.

Now I have a UV cabinet that measures two feet across  ! Try fitting that into a purse!

Good day everyone,

I have an old diamondlite. It is still working. I have even 2 UV lights in extra that works.

Does anyone know what kind of UV it is? Short or long?

Brigitte

Just look at a couple of different sheets of white paper and you can figure it out. :D

To monsieur Hanneman

I have done what you have suggested. There is a difference but I don't know how to interpret that.

Can you tell me more how to interpret?

Good evening.

Brigitte

What's more, when turned on they possibly match your handbag. :)

The Gem-A also sells a small portable LWLS UV that's purse sized.
