Hi all,

Are we planning a dinner in Tucson like last year? I'll be in town Monday 2/3/14-Monday 2/10/14. There are already several evening events planned-AGA Weds Feb 5th, GIA Fri Feb 7th and AGTA Sat Feb 8th. If we can squeeze in somehow amongst those other events perhaps? Who else will be in Tucson and when? My friend Paige will be experiencing Tucson for the first time =D> :smt002

Hi Nancy,
I will be there of course, but have so much on my plate already in the way of events, I don't know I can add one more thing to do, unless it is Sunday morning breakfast on the 9th!

YOU should take over organizing a gathering of GO folks... how 'bout that? [-o<

I have the same problem you do Roger-too much on my plate @ Tucson :) I could squeeze in a Sunday morning breakfast. I'd be happy to organize it! I'm not sure what morning my GIA Alumni officers breakfast will be-either Friday or Saturday I think....so let's hear what works for our other GO members..how does that sound? I have parties Weds, Friday & Saturday nights plus one or two tentative evening get-togethers.

Nancy :)

Hi Nancy,
In my estimation the http://www.bluewillowtucson.com/food/breakfast/ is one of the best breakfast locations in Tucson. Centrally located, decent size for seating a small group, healthy choices, awesome cappuccino and good service. Did I mention centrally located?

I too am busy with events or dinners in the evenings. So Sunday morning will be my only option [this year]. But if it doesn't work, it doesn't work.

Let's hear what our brethren have to say.

I'm glad the topic of a GO get-together came up. A Sunday breakfast would be great! It's my first time in Tucson, and that's the last day of my week there, so it's perfect timing.

I am wondering what the general consensus is about going to the show... How seasoned should I be in the industry? I am a newer GIA student, and I am trying to get a feel for I guess what ever I can to expand my horizons.

Thanks in advance...
Audrey

I think the show will expand your horizons.
Tucson reflects the many faces of our industry. Everything from blankets set out in gas stations featuring gems, fossils and minerals, to very posh presentations of extremely high end gems and jewels at the Tucson Convention Center.

Hotel rooms filled with vendors from all over the world, with everything from collector's minerals, rare and exotic gems, faceted peridot from pallasite meteorites, inclusion speicialists, tables made of petrified wood, New Age vendors with metaphysical chakra aids, carvings, etc.

You'll only regret not going. :D

so on the subject of Sunday breakfast in Tucson we have 3 'definitely' and 2 'maybe' so far...I noticed the Blue Willow doesn't take reservations on weekends Roger, but they do accomodate groups of 10-30 on the patio. Actually counting Ginger we have 4 'definitely' :) so we need @ least 6 more people to reserve the patio.

Make it three more for Sunday breakfast: Louise and I for sure, and our friend Marilynn (if she comes with us to Tucson).

Great Dick! I spoke to the Blue Willow-they won't reserve space on the patio for us but if we come early (as in 8am when they open) getting seated shouldn't be a problem :)

Fantastic. Now the tricky part. Anyone have hotel suggestions... I am thinking it may be a little late, but super hopeful. :)

I am not familiar with the area at all.

I have to say thanks for the info!! I can't wait!

For Tucson hotels Audrey go to www.agta.org, click on 'tradeshows'. Under Tucson 2014 there's a link to discounted hotels (most of which are on the free AGTA shuttles). Hopefully something will still be available :)
