:oops: I did not know that VLC replaced the original emeralds with turquoises on Marie-Louise's imperial Crown and that is on display at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History ...

Suppose the emeralds were replaced because of their monetary value.
The emeralds were re-set by Van Cleef and Arpeles into contemporary jewelry and sold as a emerald from the historic Napoleonic tiara
