So I purchased this little beauty from a trader a while back. I'm just baffled on this little one. Shows up cornflower blue when rendering the star with illumination but in natural light it's somewhat translucent with purple and lavender coming through.. what do we call this?

Hard to diagnose from photos but this resembles a titanium-diffused star, so there may be a thin layer of blue around a different colored core. It's also possible you're getting an opalescent effect from scattering (rayleigh, tyndall, mie, whatever kind of scattering, depends on the size of mineral inclusions causing it) preferentially reflecting blue and transmitting orange and red tones.

Flip it upside down and look thru it at a strong light - see if there is color zoning or other features that don't show from the top.

Most of the diffusion stars I have seen are cut from heavily color zoned material, sometimes even parti-colored, which is masked by the diffusion layer on the top.. Some have been synthetic with a diffusion star...

There is a thin layer of blue like mentioned above. The back is strongly pitted and appears to be natural upon further scope.. no bubbles or heat seem to have been used. It's pretty neat. It's about 2.7 ct. I think I'll set it next to some morganites to accentuate the peachy hues. It's definately different
