Maybe this is not the right forum, but here goes... I get confused when dealing with color change stones and the lighting needed to exhibit the color change. With the demise of the incandescent bulb, what could you use to duplicate the "color temperature" (eg 2500-3500 K) of these bulbs ? Florescent bulbs give off one kind of light. and the LED's seem to give off a different type of light. Can you shed some light (ugh!) on this topic for me?

Yes, this is a topic I have posted about on several occasions. The best light sources to view color change are the original ones, daylight and candle or flame light. Candle light is ≈ 1900K Height of Day light ≈ 5600K These sources are still readily available. If you want to fake it up:
