Last weekend my wife and I spent a day in Traverse City. We went into a higher end jewelry store and I spied something I have never seen before. It was a large Swiss blue topaz at least 22x22. When I looked down at it had a large window but that wasn’t all. The goldsmith had a thin band of gold right under the culet with what appeared to be a 15pt. bezel set diamond centered in the window. At first glance I didn’t like it but when the sales lady got it out for me it started to grow on me. I was surprised the diamond did sparkle thru the topaz. Maybe I just don’t get out enough but I found it very interesting.

Sounds interesting and creative. I have some small round brilliant pairs that have been sliced in half drilled and a 1pt. XLT in a White gold bezel setting is placed loose in the cavity and then the outer stone is laminated back together. These are citrine and amethyst was a test idea for stud earrings, but never got a lift off.
