I am preparing to take a faceting course at William holland in early may. I have an old Graves mark IV faceter with all the attachments i had planned to take and learn on but when I took it out of the closet where it has been sitting for 15 years, it was dead. It was suggested by members of the Rock Tumbling Hobby board that I contact graves buut when I call them- all the numbers on their site- I get transferred to a full voice mail or to another number where i left two messages over as many weeks without a reply. Their online catalog is apparently up but I'm scared to order a part I may not need. Does anyone kbnow what's up with Graves?

thanks,
Mark H (Colcure)

To be fair, even back when I originally ordered my machine from them back in 2012 they never answered the phone either.

The Mk IV is a variable speed machine so it likely has a DC motor and an electronic speed control. Even if you can't get parts from Graves you may be able to find a suitable replacement.

How technically adept are you?

A few years ago my Graves Mark IV speed controller died and I replaced with a KBVC-14 (H9053) for about half the Graves price. It is an exact duplicate of the original, and replacing it is an fairly easy do it yourself job. So if it is the controller you might want to check out KB-Controls.com.
