Post subject:  Thefts from shop windows.

Those of you with shops. Watch out for something new to us in the UK. if you have a window with glass panels butted up to another glass panel and a lazy glazier installed them. Watch your gaps. If your glazier just put a pile of silicon sealant in the gap, you might have a problem.

Crooks have been cutting out a little of the sealant and passing a hooked piece of wire through the gap, hooking a ring and making their escape. Some of the gaps left between panels and filled are as much as 6mm wide.

If you have this problem of excess silicon, it can be fixed by removing the old sealant, and fixing a long "T" section down the gap and using silicon to glue it in place.

One shop in the UK had 7 rings lifted in one visit!

Take care.
