Too sad ! What a havoc ! The article doesn't mention what the purpose could have been of a coating which wrecked the pearls. |

very interestng. Seems strange to have a "treatment" that destroys the pearl. Who ever is doing the treatment must be sure they will offload the goods pretty quickly, otherwise they would risk destroying their own stock. |

Either that or they got inventive and didn't realize what the results would be. You can be pretty sure that the owner of the necklace who only bought it a few months ago will be wanting a refund. It must have cost a fortune. |

I can only guess, but I imagine it might have been for a better surface luster. If so, that backfired spectacularly. |
