Is any amber facetable or only certain material from certain location like Bitterfeld?
What types of laps do people use for cutting and polishing it?
Baltic, Bitterfeld, Ukrainian, Dominican etc is suitable. I usually facet with several grits of sandpaper sheets on flat surface. If I have a facetron, I can facet better than the sandpaper. Actually most amber can be facet as long as its transparent and no cracks. Even a soft and brittle dinosaur age amber can be facet
New Jersey amber
thomasset, you have one great faceted Dominican amber with ant. Dominican is soft and you successfully facet it well.
