Industry October Surprise:
AGS Lab closing by years end!
Last date for submission is Dec. 5, 2022.
Very sad after more than 25 years.

That is disappointing. Hopefully not a trend to be followed.
Updated: we just read that there is a merger between GIA and AGS?

This is an interesting development. We will learn more as things proceed. Hopefully it ends up being good for the industry.

Both founded by the same so in some sense it may have been somewhat inevitable.

First, I wonder what they'll do with their lab's microscopes (not that I have any spare money to buy any).
Second, I wonder if the GIA has any plans to preserve their history. It seems to me that when they moved Gem Instruments (maybe when it was formally brought in-house) they basically chucked any records they might have had. So their track record on incorporating closely-related organizations isn't what I'd call incredible.
