If you or your lady friend get sick of looking at gem show stuff, a drive out to the Arizona Sonora Desert Musuem is nice. Scienc drive and interesting exhibit.
Every time I go to Tucson, I get recommendation to go somewhere other than the show. But I spend 100% of my time at the shows while they are open (unless I am eating). And it is dark after the shows close, and my feet are tired.

Thanks! I'm staying with an old co-worker of mine who is originally from there so I'm sure they will suggest other stuff as well but the Museum sounds nice!!

Every so often it drops down into the stupidly cold weather for the shown I remember one year in the 20s, even colder with windchill. It sucked so I only stayed for 3 days.
For gem show locations, you'll want the I-10 strip between St Mary's or Congress, and 22nd St/Starr Pass, as well as JOGS, InnSuites, and if you can swing it, GJX.
Ok so now for a really stupid question...... How much money do I need to bring? Seriously, I plan on spending at least $1k on rough but the real question is do I need cash??? If so, then I need to plan accordingly since ATM's only give me so much per day and the bank I use (usaa) does not have branches. Or do sellers take cards??
Cash is always accepted, a few dealers will take a card, but I can only think of 3 that will. Others, once they get to know you will accept a business check, but if you are thinking of spending around $1000, then I would just take cash, 10 $100 bills will fit nicely in your wallet.
