Hey all, I have a dumb question. As one of you so kindly said at the GO dinner last year, I'm a "laid-back looking young kid". I'd prefer to run around at Tucson with a t-shirt and shorts, but I want to make sure I don't get any weird looks if I go to certain shows.

I know Riverpark and the I-10 strip is safe for t-shirt and shorts. I don't know about anything else. Are there any shows in particular that I should dress a bit up for? If so...what? A button-down and jeans? Khakis?

I'm packing tomorrow so advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

It has been my experience that the AGTA show and the G J X shows are a bit more high end and you'd probably get more attention if you dressed up.

Isn't it about time for Gemologyonline.com merchandise? I'd buy a hoody!

Ditto. (Preferably not black.)

Just back from the gem show Tuesday & if you had worn shorts, you would have FROZEN to death! On Sunday night, there was SNOW (!) and the last time my mom (who grew up in Tucson & lived there most of her life) saw snow there was when she was in HIGH SCHOOL and they let the kids out for the day to witness the strange stuff.

I did notice that AGTA & GJX had salespersons in cuff links, but everywhere else was "stay warm casual." OTOH, I heard someone returning from another venue to his booth at AGTA mutter that they were all (other venues) "flea markets." That was funny because I found the "flea markets" INFINITELY more interesting!

Karen,
I'm new here

Welcome! We're still in Tucson and starting to pack. Already bought one new fullsize suitcase for the trip home and (after weighing the suitcases we will check on the hotel's gym scale  ), will head out to Walmart early in the AM to buy another carry on so we can pack all the rocks we bought!

The weather was quite warm early in the first week :D , then cold :( , and now warming up again :D . We were here 13 years ago and it did the same thing then. Decided Tucson just has fickle February weather!
Sue
