Is there any natural burmese ruby with a huge cluster of tiny crystals? My gut feeling told me that this is a "bread crumb" inclusion of hydrothermal ruby; due to the fact that this cluster of crystal only present near the table of the crown. However this dealer whom i know for a long time asure me it is 100% natural. It came with a very old AGL cert before the C. Smith era and GRS.

Long story short, i made a deal that i will purchase it and i will submit it to other lab and if come out different, i get full refund. And Gubelin also think that the stone is natural. The stone has since been sitting in sdb until two weeks ago. And my curiosity return.

The dealer claimed that the stone is from mong shu. However, all cert only state that the stone is burmese without further explaination

From the photo it is not possible to determine if the stone is natural. However, now that you have three lab confirmations, there should be no doubts about the ruby's authenticity. But what is at least as interesting is whether the stone was treated or not. and if so, how. And for a good laboratory like Gübelin, determining the origin is no problem either. And another little well-intentioned tip from a long-time collector. If you buy an expensive gem, you let the dealer pay in advance for lab and finally clarify any open questions. Only buy when all questions have been answered to your complete satisfaction.

I doubt that you find any of us willing to disagree with labs with the pedigree of Gubelin, and AGS who have had the stone for examination, based on am inadequate picture posted on line.

Mong Shu is Burmese so that is consistent. Almost all Ruby from Mon Hsu is heat treated to remove the blue. I am surprised the labs make an origin determination on the reports but make no comment on treatment one way or the other.
