From Egypt to the Mesomericas, and most famously Persia, turquoise has held significance in our culture throughout history. American turquoise, found in the Southwest of the US, is no exception, and is one of the most famous localities for turquoise. Turquoise is found near copper deposits, usually forming intertwined in matrix. However, in some rare circumstances, turquoise sometimes can be found crystallized in very small sharp crystals or formed botriyoidally.
