I read (what I could understand) the moonstone post with great interest. I didn't want to high-jack that thread, so I'm posting a new topic.

I was given some interesting labradorite (whose RI is a little higher than it should be; more in line with the RI of andesine) which shows a pink/yellow sheen. Would this be caused by larger particles in suspension or thicker layers than what is displayed in the blue sheen moonstone?

Here's one that I faceted where you can see those colors reflected. The cabochon is impossible to photograph; the pink sheen is so faint I don't believe I can get a picture of it. The interesting thing is that this stone was cut with a far steeper than average pavilion, yet still reflects/reftracts very well.

The colors could arise from labradorescence. You can find all kinds of yellows, pinks, and purples in opaque, black versions of the stone.

For sure, the colors don't arise from adularescence.
