The idea is that the very best chrome (or V) tourmaline is better than the very best non-Cr/V tourmaline, but there is still overlap in their color ranges. Sort of like Cu coloration in the blues or purples. Is it actually true, though? Who can say. And of course there's the standard 'no fixed prices in colored stones a guide is a rough approximation at best'.

There is a difference in values for green tourmaline & chrome tourmaine, just a quickie reference as a start- Fine Color Green: vstbG, BG, vslbG 5/4 Chrome .5 to 1 carat 1 to 5 carats $100 to $500/ct $100 to $2000/ct Other greens.5 to 2 carats 2 to 5 carats 5 carats plus $30 to $150/c $37 to $250/ct $100 to $1500/ct from international gem society
