Alright looks like I have some more light reading to do.....
Yes common I know with many labs to protect their *sses.

I just noticed the AIGS on the prior post and was curious about them.
We know John Woodmark quite well from Desert Sun Mining and the Ponderosa.

I read through some more things. It looks like there was one mine that was definitely salted, but another which may not have been with stones that were a little distinct. It was Richard Hughes who visited that one twice, my memory was way off on that. There was a panel talk of some sort in 2011ish with Rossman, Hughes and a few others whose notes mention Rossman changed his mind and decided the tibetan mine did exist based on that fieldwork and samples from it which had signs of not having been artificially heated. But aspects of all of it still seem strange and questionable.

All that aside, I believe the Ethiopian deposit is real based on the rough I have handled and how geochemically distinct the GIA found it to be. Plus there's the tiny-to-insignificant find in Japan.

No, Rossman never changed his mind to my awareness.
If you want clarification, you can always email him. He will answer.

I was just going by this line from the linked do ument, "Drs. George Rossman (2009) and Adolf Peretti (Fontaine et al., 2010) were previously on record as believing the Tibetan deposit was salted. Now they have changed their opinions. Who got to them?"
But at this point I'll bet he's sick to death of being asked about this stuff, so I will probably just let it lie.

I read the same, and thought the same. But the words at the end of "Who got to them" made me think someone really didn't know what they were really implying.

They knew what they were implying--the point I suspect was to directly address claims that had already been made about the character or motivations of various people involved.

Quite right. I think this topic has long passed the expiration date on the bottle.

I moved all the andesine posts over here. I guess every decade it is fair to revisit it.
Nostalgia....those were the days, my friend.
