Is this even a Tourmaline? More like a Moissanite diamond. And reddish hued Tourmalines are not rare, are they? I've seen lots of dark Pink tourmalines that give out a red tone when exposed to sunlight. Here's one that I have, about three carat

Taking both representations for face value of being tourmalines, I am going to say my preference is the green gem hands down.

With spinels I was used to see online vendors calling "Titanium Spinel" or "Titanium $_SomeColor Spinel" the grey stones, or the stones with a very poor color saturation.

I guess "Titanium blue" sounds fancier than "Unsaturated blue", "Bluish gray", or even "Steel blue". Because Titanium is fancier than steel. :D

I agree there has always been a marketing strategy behind these descriptions. I think gemologically using the term titanium so loosely can imply something that may or may not exist.

And as I advised the fellow who telephoned me asking if I could detect titanium in the yellow sapphire he bought from this seller, "make her prove it".
For the amount she charges for these pieces, they should all come with a LIBS report.
