Nice glassy jadeite there!
For the jade lovers and hunters here, Have you guys check Taiwan? Taiwan (East coast area) used to produce fine quality nephrites decades ago (1970s to 1980s), but stopped its mass mining after that perios. I heard that small scale mining has been started since a few years back. The nephrite specimens from Taiwan are mostly even green in color, and Taiwanese nephrites with chatoyancy effect are quite popular and famous in Chinese market.

My 80 year old neighbor gave me a large pile of jade. The white one may be jade as well. They were in the same box but I don't know if he sorted by stone or color. The white one has light green to a grey on the end. It is also not a pure white.

Try the Hanneman Toughness Test™. (take a flake, put it between two ceramic plates, and try to grind it. If it's incredibly difficult it's probably jade.)
a small nice piece from Burma I am working on. will be on the dop soon... hoping for some ice if we lucky.

File comment: not enough green as I was Hoping before slicing , but nice texture and translucency in the white parts and some areas with a bit faded moss in snow. IMG_20220603_174145.jpg [ 834.73 KiB | Viewed 3486 times ]

Dor, are you 100% sure you have jade in your hands. What tests have been done, or have you had a accredited lab id it? Not that you have claimed it to be, but Burma and a reference to moss and snow is somewhat implied.

I almost sure... well, density is good. these 2 small slices weight about 700g... hardness is good. so that's rule out many other possibilities but you are the second person that already doubt it today, so I will cut a tin slice and make an RI test.
Given that its an interesting debate on Jade, I thought I should share a beautiful piece of White Jade that I have. Bought this some time ago. Looked pretty. Anyway, thought I should share with the forum
