Vincent Pardieu Field gemologist for the GIA Laboratory Bangkok, in Thailand
Dear all, you are most welcome to discover the first part of the "GIA's Mogok Expedition Series", a series of articles written by Andrew Lucas (with some help from my side) for the GIA website after our expedition to Mogok from Dec 28th 2013 to Jan 14th 2015... Enjoy: http://www.gia.edu/gia-news-research-ex ... ies-part-1 Mogok Expedition Series, Part 1: The Valley of Rubies gia.edu
The views expressed here are V. Pardieu’s opinions and do not necessarily reflect those of GIA Laboratory Bangkok (http://www.giathai.net)where he is an employee since Dec 2008.
This is an article about how I do to prepare a field expedition. You might find there some inspiration for your own expeditions or may be some idea about contacting me if you feel that you could join me as GIA field gemologist.

Finally you can also find now a more specific article about some interesting new spinel deposit in Mogok producing some very beautiful very bright spinels:

I have been a member of GemA for years and think the articles in the Journal of Gemmology are top notch. I completely support it.
But, Mhoare87, your post is simply an advert.
The link you supplied contains no information on the article written by written by Federico Pezzotta and Emmanuel Fritsch.... (not even an abstract) .it was simply a tease to drum up subscriptions.
This is an informational site, not a place for free promotions. Thanks for understanding.

I do apologise Barbara. It was not how the post was intended. I'd simply read Vincent's articles and wanted to respond with some relevant reading for subscribers of The Journal
This was not meant as a tease, simply a pointer to any Journal of Gemmology subscribers on the forum (I know there are quite a few) that if they liked Vincent's articles on the GIA site (as I did), they may like to read more about Mogok in the Journal. However, if that is not part of the forum rules, I will happily refrain from doing so in future
Unfortunately I don't have a publicly available abstract or copy of the articles, otherwise I would've loved to pass it on to you all!

If you're on the editorial team, perhaps you might be prepared to consider making an abstract (or similar) publicly available? I'm just a hobbyist, and, sadly, there's a budget......so while I really like the sound of your publication, I'd really like a little more idea of what I'd be getting before I commit the 125 sterling to join. I did take a quick look at the "sample" articles online, but they are from 2008, so won't reflect the recent changes to the publication that you've been promoting on this forum. Thanks so much for considering it!
Each new section of the journal is explained, with an attached example. Some of these sections have full articles attached, and others have abstracts that you can browse at your convenience.
Hopefully this will enable you to have a closer look
