Unbelievable - original Thaigem.com scammers have their own reality show. I'm sure it will be just as real as the two Paraiba tourmalines I purchased from them 15 years ago. Just what the gem world needs - their own Honey Boo Boo.
Very early on they were ok. They had a nicely set up website that really started online loose gem sales. After a while greed set in with higher prices and lower quality. Then came the misrepresentations. The Paraiba tourmaline was really non -copper bearing indicolite. The owner of the Paraiba mine actually purchased a large lot to be tested. He had to do some chasing to get his 75K refunded. After this and negative articles in Colored Stone Magazine and other publications, they changed the wording to "Paraiba Type". There were some very heated E-mails back and forth with one of the shows stars that I wish I saved ;would probably be quite humorous all these years later. Like I said early on- great deals on stones even with the recutting cost. No regrets-they started my collecting. Looking forward to see my old pals on TV.

I started looking for detail on the show because they found and cut and I did not recognize them. Oh... Gem TV. Commercial cutting farm stuff from what I understand. No so excited about the show anymore. Hey, at least we have Stephen K cutting 1300+ ct Colorado topaz to look at (found on the Weather Channel show).
Hi everyone , I just finished watching first episode of Game of Stones and ... It is little bit like action movie . I were in Pailin Cambodia 3 weeks ago . It is rather safe place , you can get easily to similiar even more "mechanised mines " when You know Thai language or You have Cambodian guide but You have to spend while there. And I think stones that They bought are rather not impressive , and You dont have to go to Cambodian jungle to find stones look like that ones from 1st episode . As i know mechanised minning is prohibited now in Cambodia. Heh and only one problem on Thai/Cambodian border was that they forgot to knock stamp on my Visa and easily let me go further but some "tuk tuk" guy saw it and told me that i can have some problems on return way because formally i shouldnt be in Cambodia

It was totally bogus. They discover themselves in a mine field. How do they know it is a mine field left over from the previous conflicts? A freshly painted sign, in English that just happens to be in their path. Oh, and English is the usual language in the middle of nowhere in Cambodia. Oh, then they are 'safe' when they make it to the tree line. Of course, the trees they are in are all tropical trees that are fast growing. Hence, the trees are younger than the mine field. And it just got deeper from there.
Oh, it was too hard to tell, but were not those heat treated rubies cut? It sure looked like they were on the office TV. Yeah, right.
you guys are going to love this one http://www.gemguys.com/ they are using the show to sell stones but even worse is the lack of description and disclosure. You can get your self this lovely sunset ruby http://www.gemguys.com/sunset-ruby-22/s ... 18-14.html look at this product description: Sunset Ruby there is no heat treatment or in this case i would lean towards at these prices 27 usd to a flawless .25 carat ruby probably flux filled or bheat disclosure on the description like any honest seller would. This bugs me as we manufacture jewelry in volume only treatment we do is normal heat but to compete with company that don't disclose and or avoid telling customers what they are buying is just sad. This kills the industry.
I just watched the first 5 minutes of an episode. They were pretending that colorless beryl was a very rare and valuable gemstone. I decided I'd rather watch reruns of Burn Notice.
