Did you guys heard about the new Cert GA you can add to your name for passing the foundation course, i just received the e-mail 2 days ago.

OK i gotta admit, i passed the foundation course, the diploma practical but didnt had time and wasnt ready for the diploma theory  will eventually finish it, hopefully the faster the better( time is really precious since last year) so i dont know if only the people that passed the foundation and didnt finished the diploma are receiving it! Anybody heard about it?

For those who didn't receive it, here is the original announcement:

Quote:
Great news for graduates of Gem-A's internationally acclaimed Foundation
in Gemmology course: you are now eligible to use the designation 'Cert
GA' after your name. The new designation, standing for Certificate of
the Gemmological Association of Great Britain and agreed by the Gem-A
Board, will help provide you with the international recognition you
deserve among peers, employers and customers. The Cert GA designation
may be used by all Foundation students who have graduated since the
introduction of the new Foundation Course in 2004.

There is no associated paid Gem-A membership obligation to use the Cert
GA designation, although continued membership of Gem-A with its access
to publications and forums, plus discounts on books and equipment is
highly recommended. If you are a Gem-A Foundation in Gemmology graduate
wishing to use the Cert GA designation and are not a current member of
Gem-A please notify us of your current details so that our records can
be updated. If your name at the time of graduation was different then
please provide us with a proof of name change.

Dr Jack Ogden
Chief Executive
Gem-A
Gemmological Association of Great Britain

So, anyone who passed the Foundation since 2004 can use the new certification. Even those who have since obtained the FGA or DGA as well, if they wish. If in doubt, contact Gem-A...
