:D hi tim,

many thanks for suggesting help!!

i recently e-mailed dr. eduard gubelin's grandson, mr. edward boehm, to see if i could use (with photo credits  ) a picture of dr. gubelin holding a set of his gemstone collection. it's one cool pic, too!!

plus still waiting for a response from SSEF to see i could use pics of their gem research equipment.

and more detailed: pics of what equipment are you looking for?

My hard drive lacks a shot of Gubelin holding his collection unfortunately.

My experience is that people will react within 48 hours or will not react at all. You might want to start considering alternatives...

I suggest you mail your text to me or Barbra, we'll wack it in a wiki page and those images just might appear out of the blue ;) you never know...

i don't like to impose on folks, but, i seriously need help trying to find photographs of gemological laboratory equipment. gubelin gem lab sent several photographs to me earlier this week, but, they didn't let me know what the pieces of equipment were, so i guessed at what they were and sent the pictures with the answers to g4lab to find out if i id'd them correctly. honestly, i'm desperate. i have e-mailed folks all over the world and haven't heard anything. i just e-mailed GRS, and i know dr. peretti and his staff are probably too busy to gather up photographs for me.

if anyone knows of any photographs of :(hopefully around 450x450 pixels each-or big enough that i can resize them)
1) ED-XRF
2) LIBS
3) SEM
4) equipment used for isotope analysis of corundum

i will properly credit the photographs, and add where the photographs came from in "resources."

thanks, y'all, and i Greatly Appreciate any help i can get. help.....

please send a pm to me if you can or know of anyone which may be able to help me...

thanks,
Jan

 not counting today, only 3 days left for contest entries to be turned in.

does anyone have any suggestions on where i could possibly find photographs of the ED-XRF and the SEMs with permission??? that's all i need for the essay to be finished.

i've sent out requests to gem labs, companies, etc... i received permission from new wave research for permission to use their LIBS photograph, but haven't heard a peep from the others i contacted about the instruments.
help...

thanks!!

Albe, I didn't write them. Heck, I've got my hands full filling the wiki over at AJU...

G-kid... have you ploughed through all the links they provide at the bottom of the article? There may be some more pics in there... And... please do check that the images are available under a creative commons license, otherwise you will have to track down the copyright holder...

 well, tim, i looked at the copy right and used the one for the SEM from wikipedia, it was on the commons site too. i guess its okay to use it?? not to clear on the wording :? or the symbols used by either sites. i'm not sure about it not being copy written though. what will happen if it is copy written????

i received permission for all of the other photographs i used.
