One client just didn't want the normal Breitling watch bezel - something about being from Alaska...

14K bezel, natural nuggets, and a nephrite jade cab marker.

Did I mention I hate soldering nuggets???

The piece can come off and the original bezel put back on...

All precision cut in wax on our CNC mill, and cast.

Fun!

Nice work!

Not a fan of gold nugget style in general, however that was designed and made as well as I have ever seen it. :D

Last piece for now - someone brought in a worn out gem in a worn out ring, a couple of generations old, and wanted it re-made for a grand daughter.

The before and after on the gem is in the Lapidary forum...

14K, a zillion diamonds in the halo. I think the total project was over $3,200, but then the amethyst was over 1" long!

Center stone is a Zambian Amethyst, 7.8X7.6mm Modified Squarish Brilliant Mixed. Stone weighs 2 carats.
Side stones are Maine Pink Tourmalines done in a freeform step Half Moonish. Stones weigh 1.27 carats total.
Ring is done in 14K Palladium White and was executed by my friend, as well as photographed, by John Cooney.

Wife forgave me for my transgression! :D

Very nice, Paul - my wife would love something like that too!!!

Congratulate John on a job well done, both goldsmithing skills and photography!

Finally got around to cutting some of the nice Madagascan moonstone I bought at Tucson this year. I haven't had much luck finding high quality Indian moonstone in the rough--I think that most of it gets cut in country for obvious reasons. But some of the Madagascan is very nice too. Channel cut with simple gold wire setting.

Did you do that wire work yourself, Stephen?

Sure. Not a great photo though:

The wire sits in a groove in the stone, super simple.

That's brilliant!
What tool did you use to get a groove in the stone?

I wish it were my idea--a friend of mine showed off some she'd done manually with a dremel, and I ended up getting a router with a diamond blade for the purpose. It is very easy to do and for some stones allows for a nice simple frame.
