Stephen,

When you say 'not stable', do you mean no matter what is cut, even if a clean piece is chosen, it will continue to fracture?

In my experience, yes. Much like clear-bodied Shewa opals.

Did you read the article Barbra posted on the previous page? Especially the sections related to stability of Ethiopian opals and the region(s) in which they are found.
Not stable is relative to many factors of the opal itself it has nothing to do with "no matter what is cut". If your trying to say that if you select a piece from a sample that does not show crazing as a clean piece will it craze, it is known to likely do so in Ethiopian opals and Mexican opal. Some of the Cobber Pedy material can be unstable at some time in its lifetime.

Is that what keeps trying to download every time I visit the page?

On mobile it behaves strangely and all I see is a blank area.

I'll take a look later tonight.

It still downloads to a mobile if you let it. But yes it is much an easier read on a bigger monitor. Same thing happens on my Samsung but in the downloads folder, just need a pdf reader on your phone.
