I need help!

I have a mystery gemstone that I’m having trouble identifying.

Characteristics:
- yellowish green, subadamantine polish lustre
- OTL R.I.
- doubly refractive
- very included, has been fracture filled and contains numerous gas bubbles

I’m leaning towards low zircon but I’ve never seen it fracture filled.

spectrum might be helpful in this case as both OTL DR candidates (Sphene and Zircon) list it as a key test.

Get a good spectrum. Look for the "Zircon Line" at around 683 for Zircon call. Look for doublet at around 580 for Sphene call.

Specific Gravity should also be helpful.

It looks like Sphene to me, but Zircon is a good guess at this point too.

They are fracture filling everything these days.
