The colour change, bubble inclusions, and surface lines point to some sort of glass in my opinion.
I've seen this type in particular on sale if that green colour change is a strong lime green. But the guy selling it hasn't had any in years... it's interesting stuff, mix of two rare earth glasses I believe.
I'm surprised it's showing up grey in natural light, never had much luck with it, direct light tended to send my rough into the pink colour mode.
Either glass or synthetic corundum seems the most likely to me.
This is where my thoughts went right off the bat based on the pictures and your description. It looks like the synthetic flame fusion corundum that is often used to imitate alexandrite. I know they make glass ones too. If you can get a SG, or even better a RI, on it that would help figure it out pretty quick. Even a quick look under a polariscope would be a quick way to see between glass or corundum but RI and SG would identify most stones out there no matter what they are.
