I just started taking the GIA diamond essentials course and I was wondering how was the final exams. What kind of questions will they ask, if I will have to write the answers myself or if it's going to be a multiple-choice questions.
I just started working as a high jewelry sales associate (even though I have no knowledge about diamonds or gemmology) and my Boss asked me to pass the final exams at more than 80% if I want to keep my job; which is understandable since I will be selling diamonds at Place Vendome. I really don't want to lose my job, so I really need to learn everything about diamonds asap and pass the final exams. Any tips?

Like all GIA classes and tests there are no trick questions. The exams are straight forward, so you will have no problem passing. Read the material, watch the videos, and take the quizzes at the end of each chapter. In each chapter there a core concepts, and definitions to learn. These are all well highlighted. Learn these and you will do fine.
Search the internet. There are a number of sites that offer free practice exams, and flash cards to help you study.

If you do the course work and in a timely manner You should do just fine. Key point is doing the course work and not take breaks so that the information is fresh in your head. This is what I found to be true for me and taking a long break was when I paid big time. So I can only have suggestions for you as hopefully you don't repeat my mistake of taking my day dreaming mistakes. If I had one thing to say It would be try and do the work as orderly and quick as you can! Daydream of the diamonds after the final.

Essentials course final exams are open book, non-proctored and contain 50 multiple choice questions. As others have said, read the material thoroughly and you should be just fine. Good luck!
