Good day. Not sure if anyone monitors this forum but I have a HUGE RING that needs identifying. Thete are 4 sets of 3 Rubies? 12 red/pink stones in total. Please see attached for weight and size. The band has tested between 10-14k. No makers mark. The diamonds have tested genuine. The pink/red stones look mine cut. Any info on maker or era would be fantastic. Very odd setting as well as design. Thank u kindly.

I see nothing unique or special about the ring that would indicate its provenance for me.

The only time I've seen parcels of rubies with this kind of lower-but-consistent translucency they've been lead glass filled.
With no offense to the piece it doesn't look to have particularly excellent workmanship.

What is the fineness of the metal? Looks 2 tone...both metals.
Any stamps: maker's marks; hallmarks
Might help determine the actual story of the ring.

What makes you think this item has anything to do with a Czar?

Extremely unlikely. The ring is rather pedestrian (cough cough) and the height makes in almost unwearable.

Watch this video Mich. You will see why your ring is not Tsar quality.

Such a nice, diplomatic way to say it Barbra.

Hi there! Thank you for your replies! I agree that the design, weight etc almost make the ring unwearable, yet why would someone have gone to such lengths to make the ring if there was no significance? You may be correct in saying that there is 2 tones of gold. The inside being darker(Higher Karat). The outer band is def between 10-14k. And the diamonds test true throughout the band. There is definitely no makers marks or hallmarks visible.

I totally agree with the workmanship being less than perfect. I am assuming the maker may not have had the right tools or technology at the time it was made?

As far as the stones, why would they have true Diamonds if the Rubies are synthetic? The stones look to be Old Mine Cut. Is there a specific date/years when this cutting procedure was used?

Are there any other sites or forums that you would suggest I attempt to get clarification? I have reached out online to other venue's with no reply.

Any input is GREATLY appreciated and I thank you kindly for your time.

Take Care and Stay Safe
Mich

Oh, Mich. :(
Folks make things everyday which have no great significance.

Perhaps, they have stones in their collection they wish to do something with....and the final result turns out to be a total failure.

You are hoping for a provenance which does not exist.

Without a clear verifiable history on a piece like this, it usually just ends up being speculation. The red stones could have been set at any time. I tend to agree with Barbra just from an experienced view point.

diamonds are easy to come by in the used market. High quality rubies much less so. If you buy gold, you usually pop out the stones. The diamonds are generally real. The rubies are generally synthetic. Go into any jewelry store in a mall - they will have a lot of synthetic rubies (and synthetic emeralds) and few very low quality genuine rubies and emeralds. It is the old bait and switch. The funny thing is that synthetic rubies cost cents per carat, but they don't have much of a discount on the synthetic ones. So... synthetic rubies are plentiful. Diamonds are pretty plentiful. So it isn't too surprising to see rings with genuine diamonds and synthetic rubies. You will find them in any mall.
