A small Tresor. The box is made of +22K - 24KGold, profusely decorated with kundan-set with table-cut diamonds, cabochons rubies and emeralds. Octagonal Shape. Weight: 62.7gr. Measures: 4.5cmX 4.5cmX3.5cm. North India. Similar piece could be found in the British Museum Collection http://pennystockjournal.blogspot.com.e ... useum.html

Thank you Barbra! I do not know the purpose of using the box. I guess because of its size it could be for the women's khol, or a pandan box, or have a religious use (bindi, tilak or tika). The closure is made with an embedded ruby. For its upper and final part, you can see similar pieces that could date from the 18th Century.
