I’ve had this for a while and I don’t remember if I found it on a beach or a river.

Hi Mohavemann and welcome.
This could be a number of things.
Let's get a little more information.

Does the stone feel waxy when you rub it?
Can you scratch it with a pocket knife?
If you shine a light behind it, is it opaque or translucent?

Really can't tell more than that with just a photo.

It seems waxy and there is a translucency, especially in that vein you see at the top. I am leaning toward Jadeite . . But I am a beginner.

A scratch with a penknife will seperate green chert/jade from serpentine.
Please try and report back.
The waxy feeling usually indicates serpentine.

So after looking at a lot of pictures and info on the web, leaning toward Bowenite (serpentine). What do you think?

Might be. Might not be.
One can't positively ID something from a picture.
Have you tried the hardness test?
