Good news for gemologists, gem collectors and others interested in gem minerals from pegmatites! A new book, Pegmatites and their Gem Minerals, published by the Mineralogical Association of Canada is expected to be available for purchase very soon, by the end of August, 2022.

Carl Francis (Curator at the Maine Mineral and Gem Museum) wrote in his pre-publication review "Pegmatites and Their Gem Minerals is aimed at a wide audience: the traditional academic one and a broad nonacademic one as well. Collectors and enthusiasts as well as the entire supply chain in the jewelry industry will find this an accessible, and comprehensive introduction and an indispensable reference to gemstone-bearing pegmatites."

This volume is available as Special Publication No. 15 (SP15) from the Mineralogical Association of Canada – look for the announcement on the website http://www.mineralogicalassociation.ca.

Did anyone mention that Jeffrey Scovil took the photos featured in this book?

Ooh, looks like fun! I'll keep an eye out for that.
