Hi,

For those of you who ever travel to Germany: there's a great place to buy rough. It's close to this special place in the world where everything started: Idar Oberstein (with two great musea: http://www.edelsteinmuseum.de/ and http://www.museum-idar-oberstein.de).

But this great place to buy rough is: http://www.lemke-laborbedarf.de/index.p ... ffers.html
They not only make agate mortars for laboratory, but since some time they sell a lot of rough on the top floor. They buy up old stock from the local small "schleifereien" (gem cutting industrie). Lots of different material, gem quality also. Outside they have a large pile of agates. A big bucket full costs only€ 20,=. They not good for their mortars, but great for cabochons. See the picture of an example.

It's nice digging there.

Gerard
