While randomly looking at a fairly nondescript little spinel I ran across something odd. I knew it had an arrowhead-shaped crack at the bottom but while changing the light some blue hexagon appeared. Seen from the front this arrowhead shape is just a line, so no thickness to speak of. The blue hexagons dissappear under different light but remain as clear. Under different light, a whole bunch of little crosses of light appeared. There is not much in the stone except for a very tiny bubble?/ Crystal. My photos are between 60 and 80X. Natural? Synthetic? It seems too unremarkable to bother making the synthetic material. I've not seen blue hexagonal paper thin crystals before.
