Does anyone know of any exotic purple or green gems above 7 hardness on the Mohs scale? A friend of mine showed me a purple Mozambique garnet, holy cow are those stunning, but still a bit too soft for my client... grrr. :?
Thanks in advance for suggestions!

Have you considered purple sapphires?

Chrysoberyl - Vanadium Chrysoberyl = light bluishgreen or green
Alexandrite = green daylight, purple in incandescent light.

Same with color changing garnet, green garnets like Tsavorite or green Mali Garnet, Uvarovite ( Demantoid is 6,5)

Spinel, Taaffeite and Musgravite ( purple ), Gahnite (green)

Grandidierite ( bluishgreen ), Chambersite ( purple), Euclase ( green - bluish green )

I have only some deep blue from Zimbabwe - think you mean the gorgous bluishgreen from Colombia..

Check the new eyeclean Grandidierites - some show an awesome color very close to Euclase.

If solidly over 7 is the goal your options are somewhat limited. I would add purple topaz to the pile--its color is hard to match.
