G’day all, new to the forum and thought I would contribute to some threads.
Thought I would share this is about 50 kgs or 100 lbs Boulder Opal in its natural rough form from the town of Quilpie in Queensland Australia. I buy direct from the miner and very messy to work with. I usually trace the opal seam then cut, cab and polish.
Google the towns of Quilpie, Yowah, Opalton, Lightning Ridge and you will see what the Aussie outback really looks like and the beauty under the ground.
Pieces go nice into rings, wire wrapping, necklaces etc and cut into various shapes. Often lots of dazzling blues, green, purple and red flashes and you never know what you get inside until you start cutting.

Not much interest as of yet in this post. I am not a big fan of the boulder, can make some extremely beautiful pieces. To messy to work with in my current environment. Nice stash though!
