Yes, the world feels lonelier already.

Excellent pic! Taken recently during a very happy moment. At that particular moment Alain was glowing of happiness...

it sends me straight back to tears though...

My words can't express how sorry I am for all of you, his friends and colleagues. For his family I give my deepest sympathies. The gemological community has lost a truly brilliant member.

Thank you Alain for sharing your knowledge.

It's been awhile since I have posted on this board (Thank you Barbra for resetting my password) I am very, very saddened by this news, Doos was so kind to me and so funny. I will always remember his funny goofy Avatar he used to have., it always made me laugh. May he have peace, and rest in whatever is beyond. My deep condolences and sympathy for his family. .... I am so shook

I wish to express my sincere regrets of this loss, Though I wasn't personally allied with him, I had occasion to admire what he wrote and the way he expressed his thoughts. He will be missed from this space where I'm sure you agree he made his place.

Ah, Doos -- I hope you knew how much you were appreciated here, not least of all by me. Your ready answer was always most welcome. You will be missed indeed.

My english is not always very good, I will write in french,

Quelle tristesse que de voir des gens passionnés disparaître.

À tous ses amis et amies, à toute sa famille, mes plus grandes sympathies, mes prières et mes pensées les meilleures.

I am saddened to hear this, that life had become so painful for him must be devastating for his family and friends. May he Rest in Peace and his Soul travel to a far better world.

Mere words always seem so trivial when addressing this type of terrible event. Seadancer is so right in that this must be devastating for his family to have his life end this way. Our prayers go out to them. Alain no longer needs our prayers. I trust tonight he is embracing his passion by admiring stones finer than anything we've ever seen in this world.

Deeply saddened to hear this news - our sympathies are with his family and friends. A great loss to the community.
