Hi all,
I stumbled into a chat about adding an Ohmmeter to a Facetron. Now that I have joined the Forum, I can't find my way back to that chat. Here is what I wanted to add to that discussion:
Some years ago I did manage to add an Ohmmeter to a Facetron. I took quite a while and I had to modify the guts of the Facetron's "black box" to accomplish it. I was surprised when the Ohmmeter's needle jumped about a third of its scale: it was measuring the play in the tube-on-shaft pivot bearing. Therefore, I do not recommend adding an Ohmmeter to a Facetron.
My Facetron was purchased used from Charlie Covil. I do not think the tube-on-shaft bearing was worn from use. The Ohmmeter is just that sensitive.
Best regards, Dave Woolley
P.S. I will be giving a talk at the Faceters Frolic #10 in Franklin NC this summer.
