Hello. My name is Lee Ann. Well my story is simple. My father-in-law was diagnosed with a horrible autoimmune disease that left him so weak he was basically bound to his recliner. Well that left him with plenty of time for tv (with tivo). My husband and I live on an 18 wheeler. We went to visit and of course he had my husband sit down and watch most of the Gold Rush, Gold Fever, etc shows. 10 days later my husband's Gpaa kit came in the mail. I could have cared less. Hehe.

Well anyways, we took a load to Denver, Colorado and there was a creek beside the truck stop. My husband had heard there was gold in it so he took his pan down to the creek. It was a pretty day so I went with him. He was so excited I couldn't help but smile at him praying he would find something. He found something, there was tons of garnet sand along with a few flakes of gold. Well I was hooked. I was reading through the gpaas magazine and newspaper and some research I found that silver, gold, copper, etc were found with gems. Where ever he goes there will be something for me also. Whoo hoo.

Now I have been to Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and Utah playing in rivers (except for Utah) and finding gems. My husband was not thrilled with Utah because you have to beat on rocks instead of just panning. I have about 350 carats of sapphires, a large piece of emerald, a Herkimer diamond, and several other stones. Im already planning a trip to Oregon for sunstone and to new mexico and Arizona for Peridot.

Im very interested in taking some courses to get better acquainted with different gems, where they are found, which ones are better for jewelry etc so that I will have some very special pieces to pass down to my children. I am hoping to find some information and such here on the forum till I can start a course. Maybe find someone searching for the same things I am and share notes.

My husband and I have 48 states that I can dig for gems. I'm interested in to odd gems. Everyone knows about emeralds and rubys and so on. I want the moonstone and sunstone, zoisite....... the ones you do not hear about.

Well you get the picture.
