Sorry, I'm confused. Are you saying the peridot I sent was CZ?
I'm quite sure it isn't.

You should have received my set.
It was left on your stoop. 10:40am.
Let me know. :D

I emailed you, but I thought I should also follow up here.
Thanks again; these have already been a great help.
("That 5mm brilliant-cut thing they sent along free with your order and told you was a peridot? Nope, far too much dispersion and an RI off the scale. This is what a peridot looks like; you got a yellow-green CZ. Now here's how you go through the tests..." Teach a lady to fish, and all. :) )

I would be very surprised. Barbra is a very good Gemologist, and Geologist. Properties are usually not communicated the way you have done. So, I cannot draw conclusions from them.

Look under a microscope at the stone in question. Do you see any doubling? Put in polariscope. Is it double refractive? If so it is not CZ.

Every stone I sent you was tested on a Raman.
I didn't send you any 5mm peridots I got "free" with an order.

It is a very odd response to understand. Probably meant not in a mean way I would hope.

That part yes seems quite condescending, like some how a woman needs someone to teach them. Not appropriate at all.
But the whole phrase of (Nope, far too much dispersion and an RI off the scale. This is what a peridot looks like; you got a yellow-green CZ. Now here's how you go through the tests...) What is an RI off the scale? OTL and far to much dispersion?

I often wonder where they come from. People regularly show up to show us amazing, gemstones, gold, platinum and other treasures they are finding. With one exception they are all junk rock.

Then they insult us when we try and help with the truth.

Where do you get your patience Barbara?

Update. I got an email clarification from Staurolite.
To rephrase and edit:
Quote:
A friend of his (in Michigan) received a 5mm round "peridot" as a gift from a vendor. Using the peridot I sent along with my accompanying identification sheet, he was able to prove her stone was not peridot, but CZ.

Humble apologies for misunderstanding his intentions.

Apology accepted. Thanks, Staurolite for taking the time to explain.

And to answer 1bwana1's question: meds, lots of 'um.
