The two stones tested in the smaller pot - an 0.60 gram amethyst and an o.74 gram synthetic ruby.

And here's the ruby, on the scale, submerged in water in the new, smaller, pot.



Averaging three separate weighings for the amethyst yielded a specific gravity of 2.60, not as close as the crystal samples, but a little bit closer than the 2.73 I had obtained for that same stone in the facebook story. The ruby (only a single test on that one), gave a SG of 4.11 compared to the Schumann values of 3.97 - 4.05. In the upshot, the smaller container did not seem to make enough of a difference to be worth the effort, although I may experiment further along those lines.
